How can we make traffic safer?
The National Road Safety Congress has been bringing experts together since the last century, when road safety reached a record low and traffic fatalities were at an all-time high. The negative consequences of increasing mobility had to be addressed. Through this congress, the organizing parties, ANWB, SWOV, VVN, and the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management (IenW), aim to provide professionals with a platform to network, exchange knowledge, and work together to improve road safety. On 14 April 2022, the congress took place with Networkapp as its sustainable event solution.
A more sustainable approach
For this edition, the organizers decided to take a different approach. They chose to use Networkapp for the first time, making this the first National Road Safety Congress to incorporate the app. The congress aims to generate new insights, make knowledge accessible and open for discussion, and encourage its distribution. Attendees could participate in a plenary programme featuring a keynote speaker, panel discussion, and award ceremony. In addition, there were three rounds of breakout sessions and plenty of opportunities for networking. This edition was organized by Acquire Publishing on behalf of ANWB, SWOV, VVN, and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management. SWOV’s contact person was already familiar with Networkapp and had positive previous experiences with the platform. That is why Networkapp was selected once again.
“Our goal was to stop handing out printed programme booklets during the event. It was a great challenge to connect visitors in a different way. We hoped it would lower the threshold for people to get in touch with one another”, says Mirjam van der Gaag. “Thanks to Networkapp, printed programmes were no longer necessary, and most networking happened face to face.”
Polls and Networkapp support
In addition to using the event platform, the organizers also made use of several Networkapp features. One of the highlights was the polling feature, which worked very well. It was used to allow attendees to vote for one of the nominees for the National Road Safety Award. The organizers configured and managed the app themselves. According to Mirjam, “it took a little searching at times”, but “everything was easy to find, and the explanations were clear.” She especially appreciated the clear step-by-step guidance, which helped them keep an overview throughout the setup process. The entire platform was also reviewed together with Julia from Networkapp, which proved to be very valuable. In addition, the organizers were highly satisfied with Networkapp’s support team because of their quick responses and proactive assistance.
